The Wider Effect works with councils and the communities they serve, so this website needs to work for everyone. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Pages use clear headings and plain language, and work with screen readers and keyboard navigation.
Text and background colours are chosen to meet contrast requirements, and text can be enlarged without loss of content.
Images and logos have text alternatives. The scrolling logo banner can be paused, pauses when you hover over it, and stays still if your device is set to reduce motion.
The calculators work with a keyboard, and results are announced to screen readers as they update.
The site adapts to phones and tablets.
The downloadable capability statement and PDF summaries may not be fully accessible to all screen readers. We’ll provide an accessible version on request.
Card payments, bookings and enquiry forms use third-party services, whose accessibility is managed by those providers.
